For providing warmth and protection, leather ski gloves are a great addition to any winter attire. Leather is a very durable material and the more it is used, the softer it gets. People who don’t like purchasing leather are able to buy synthetic leather gloves that are perfect replicas of the leather versions in the store. They don’t last as long as the authentic leather gloves, but they often have the same appearance.

Fleece or a thin insulated lining are often used in ski gloves that have a leather outer covering. There are even high-tech leather gloves that come with battery operated heating elements in them. These are great for not only providing constant warmth, but the leather covering of the ski gloves is highly resistant to tears.

The standard unheated glove is also an option for people who have no problem with staying warm during outside sporting events and other activities.

Many outdoor gloves are referred to as ski gloves, but they aren’t only for skiing. They are great for snowboarding and sledding as well. People who are interested in other activities, such as hiking, hunting, or even golfing find that leather gloves are perfect for being able to grip equipment easier.

Leather gloves have a natural ability for grip, they don’t slip off of ski poles or golf clubs when used in cold weather. There are some gloves that have extra gripping capabilities due to silicone on the fingers.

Leather is an amazing material with it’s natural waterproofing abilities, as well as being wind proof. When using leather gloves for skiing, they don’t tear as easily as nylon ski gloves when using the tow rope to get up the ski hill.

These ropes are extremely rough and make short work of nylon ski gloves, unless they are reinforced with leather palms. There are lots of outdoor clothing manufacturers that create both all leather and partial leather versions of ski gloves.

Having the ability to be a natural wind and water barrier, leather can make hands sweat unless there is a moisture wicking material included inside the leather ski gloves. Leather is the perfect material for having both functional and fashionable gloves. They are often in black or brown for men, but many women’s gloves are dyed in bright colors to match the many ski coats worn. Leather gloves are generally more expensive and they are definitely well worth the added cost.

I have the Burton Men’s Staple black leather pipe gloves, and I love ‘em. They keep my hands warm when I’m boarding on the slopes, and since my hands get cold easily, I was pretty impressed with how comfortable the gloves are.
